About Pemberton Combatives

I began the idea of Pemberton Combatives in 2007. I wanted to take my military specific techniques and Martial Arts techniques and apply them to self-defense.

Pemberton Combatives is a resource to help everyday citizens defend themselves. I created this resource because of my passion for self-defense. I have been an instructor through the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP) for the past 5 years and been a practitioner of MCMAP since 2002. I received my Black Belt in 2006 and have instructed over 200 students in combat fighting techniques, to include coalition forces. I have studied in various other martial arts and combat systems to include, Army Combatives (MACP), Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and Modern Arnis (Pilipino Stick Fighting). Early this year I became an NRA instructor in, Refuse to be a Victim®, Firearm Safety in the Home, Basic Pistol and Personal Protection in the Home.

What I hope to accomplish with the Pemberton Combatives blog is to give my reader the ability to choose what kind of defense works best for them. Each and every one of us has a different belief on what means we should use to defend our properties, ourselves and most of all our families. Pemberton Combatives offers a variety of means for which to choose from, as well as the ability to discuss them.

There is not one technique or fighting style that is a one size fits all, it is through knowledge and experience that we can find the techniques or style that best suits who we are.
